What to Expect
Your First Appointment
Your first appointment is a huge milestone and we want to celebrate you and make everything as seamless as possible. Here’s what you can expect for your first appointment.
After scheduling your first appointment, your therapist will send you a link to access a variety of documents. These will need to be reviewed and signed/initialed. These documents will be accessed through a portal called. “Simple Practice”. This portal will be where everything happens.
You specifically want to pay attention to and thoroughly read your therapist “Disclosure Statement”. This will help you to better understand what their therapy style is and what to expect from therapy.
Once you review and sign all the necessary paperwork, you will be ready for your first counseling session. The first session is considered the Initial Intake. The therapist will obtain information that brings you in for counseling and go over what you would like to work towards. This particular session will last longer than the sessions that follow it. You can expect your first appointment to run about 90 minutes.
The subsequent visits will be the sessions where you and your clinician work towards your goal. These will be around 50 minutes each time.
Following your appointments you will submit payment for the session either in person or by email invoice. You will also discuss scheduling your next appointment with your therapist.
Cancellations:
At Chatham Counseling, we work diligently to not double-book appointments or cause any overlap in clients. If for some reason you are unable to keep this appointment, please notify us within 24 hours of your appointment time. By doing this, you will not be charged a cancellation fee.
If you fail to attend your appointment without any notice or cancel within 24 hours of your appointment time, you will be charged for the full session rate of $100.
While some clients prefer to opt for an appointment time slot on a repeating basis, we are happy to accommodate this request. However, in the event of consecutive and/or multiple cancellations of repeat appointments, we will no longer reserve a standing appointment. This will result in scheduling appointments at the end of each session.
In the event of inclement weather, please contact the office directly. We will be diligent in keeping all clients updated on any office hour changes.
